Woman of Color Treasury
I live, work and thrive in NOLA. I am a mixed media artist drawn to Louisiana subject matter from alligators to angels. When people see my work, I want them to feel the love and prayers that I have attached to the paintings
I Posted a new print on my etsy shop! It is available today on 8.5x11 inch paper, and coming soon in a bigger size!
Monsieur Gator was painted on commission. He is a Parisian gator strolling at sunset, dreaming of Camembert. He is in front of the Eiffel Tower, smoking Gauloises (cigarettes), wearing a red beret and a blue ascot. The original is painted on canvas in acrylics
My new painting is almost done, but she is waiting for words. You can see she is waiting expectantly.
And she is willing to make a deal.
If I use your words on the painting, I will send you a free print from my ETSY site.
Do you have any words for me?
Check out my new blog post! It’s titled “Life in Progress,” where I talk about a new painting I am working on that’s almost finished.
Young Woman, almost done
Inspiration for this painting:
The brown pelican, Louisiana’s state bird, has had a rough time. The sides of the original painting are covered in globby black paint to represent the oil spill. Crawfish angels are taking the pelican to Heaven. The three fish represent the Holy Trinity.
The original is also for sale on my website.
The inspiration for this painting is an angel of New Orleans as the center of a hurricane, holding her own. The holy spirit is with her.
The original was donated to The Chris Owens French Quarter Easter Parade, which raises money to buy musical instruments in schools in the New Orleans area.
Available in two sizes on my new etsy shop!
I just posted a new print for sale on Etsy. It is available right now in 8.5X11 and soon to be available in 11X14.
Gator Girl is the painting I did to realize my dream of moving to New Orleans and painting full time. The picture contains many symbols of New Orleans— crayfish, alligator, magnolia, music…
